After the debacle that is the “simple” smocked sundress I decided to stick with truly simple projects this week to boost my confidence.
It doesn’t get much easier than these three item- a softie, hankerchief, and nursing pillow. Eventually I will tweek the softies and pillow but for now they are perfect in my eyes because they came together without any major headaches!
These will all be for sale at the farmer’s market so I tried to pick fabrics that were either gender nuetral or an even mix between “boy” colors and “girl” colors. Right now the softies look like giraffes but next time I’m going to put ribbon all the way down the back to make it look more like a horse or a zebra. Then I want to make some with little triangles so the softie becomes a dinosaur. I think that will be really cute! I also want to add a zipper to future nursing pillows so that the cover can be removed and washed. This would also allow me to fill it with organic cotton instead of polyester.
Then I started knocking out these
I still need to add the velcro but I’m going to do that step after all the bibs are finished. I realize working in an assembly line fashion is the most effective use of time but I tend to skip around when working on projects. When I get to a step I’m not sure of (like adding velcro) I stall there… I’ll figure it out tonight.
I still need to work on some simple little girl’s dresses and eventually some snuggly blankets but that will have to wait until later in the week or this weekend.
What do you think so far?
