I’ve been eying the Lanterm Bloom fabric since sneak peeks started coming out and then really “lusting” after it when I saw photos of Laura Gunn’s booth at Quilt Market. So I was super excited to find out that one of my favorite online fabric stores had ordered for EARLY arrival. I quickly sketched out a quilt design featuring the parakeets from Luli Sanchez to determine how much I would need but I still had to order it in two batches because they sold out of the turquoise fabric in a nanosecond. Originally I was going to include the amethyst color but when I actually saw it with the parakeets I realize the colors were completely different so I ordered another 1 1/2 yard but this time of the darker green.
I don’t think computer screens do this color justic, it’s a beautiful rich green in person and it goes perfectly with the parakeets!
Buyer (or rather washer) beware the turquoise and amethyst both bled even when washed on the cold water cycle. Luckily they didn’t bleed much and I can salvage the fabrics they bled on to but it was still disappointing. I usually wash dark colored solids and shot cotton by themselves because I expect them to bleed, I didn’t expect it from these… Live and learn when it comes time to wash the dark green I will only do so with other dark colors.
Now I just need to find the time to actually put my design into action… 🙂
